Bloomsbury Football is a charity using the power of football to improve the lives of underprivileged young people in London.
Established in 2018, Bloomsbury Football has grown to work with around 5,000 young people per week and are set up with the aim of improving the mental and physical health, social mobility and opportunities of its beneficiaries. All their programmes operate on a pay-what-you-can-afford basis, breaking down barriers to access and using football as a vehicle for change for all young people, regardless of economic, disability or migrant status. Last year, 31% of Bloomsbury Beneficiaries were eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and as such received the highest bracket of discount to services.
Funding from Postcode Innovation Trust, thanks to players of People's Postcode lottery, was awarded to help set up Bloomsbury Ventures. Bloomsbury Ventures (BV) is primarily an events agency, 100% owned by Bloomsbury Football, which runs corporate football events for partners. On the day staff involved will be current or past beneficiaries of Bloomsbury Football sessions, who will be able to receive job opportunities in the football sector, whilst helping to enable that Bloomsbury Football continues to grow and help disadvantaged young Londoners access the power of football.
