Funding Themes

At Postcode Innovation Trust, we believe that bold ideas and impactful organisations can drive lasting change. That’s why our social investment supports mission-driven ventures aligned with four key funding themes. These themes reflect the areas where we see the greatest opportunity for innovation, equity, and long-term impact.

Thriving Together

Health, Wellbeing & Supported Housing.

We invest in organisations that help people live healthier, safer, and more connected lives.

Under the Thriving Together theme, we support ventures improving physical and mental health, advancing wellbeing, and providing access to secure, supportive housing. We’re looking for bold, scalable solutions that go beyond the basics — delivering services that are high-quality, person-centred, and genuinely impactful. Our focus is on organisations that empower individuals, reduce inequality, and give people the support they need to thrive.

This could include:

  • Community-led health and wellbeing initiatives

  • Accessible mental health services

  • Housing solutions for vulnerable or marginalised groups

  • Programmes addressing domestic abuse, isolation or long-term conditions

  • Integrated support for people with complex needs

Bright Futures

Education, Social Care & Support for Young People.

We invest in organisations creating brighter futures for children, young people, and people with disabilities or additional needs.

Under the Bright Futures theme, we support ventures working across education, social care, and specialist provision — with a particular focus on those addressing disadvantage, additional needs, and barriers to opportunity. Whether it's through early years support, inclusive education, or innovative approaches to care, we’re looking for organisations that place people at the heart of what they do.

We’re seeking solutions that are high-quality, person-centred, and designed to deliver long-term impact — not just quick fixes. From early intervention to transition support and lifelong learning, we want to back approaches that unlock potential and expand opportunity.

This could include:

  • Inclusive and specialist education (including SEND provision)

  • Social care and respite services for children, families and disabled people

  • Youth development and mentoring

  • Early years support and school readiness initiatives

  • Family-centred services that respond to complex needs

Sustainable Planet

Environment, Biodiversity & Green Innovation.

We invest in organisations working to protect and restore our natural world — and to build a greener, more sustainable future.

Under the Sustainable Planet theme, we support ventures tackling environmental challenges through practical, innovative solutions. This includes work in conservation, biodiversity, the circular economy, sustainable agriculture, and low-carbon living.

We’re looking for organisations that are not only delivering environmental impact but also developing income-generating models that can sustain and grow that work over time. Whether it’s launching a biodiversity net gain scheme, creating green products or services, or opening up new markets for sustainable innovation — we back ideas that combine mission with enterprise.

This could include:

  • Biodiversity restoration and habitat protection

  • Nature-based solutions to climate change

  • Community-led retrofitting and energy efficiency

  • Circular economy or sustainable manufacturing models

  • Green skills training or environmentally focused enterprise

Resilient Communities

Employment, Inclusion & Community Development.

We invest in organisations building fairer, more inclusive communities — where everyone has the opportunity to participate, contribute and thrive.

Under the Resilient Communities theme, we support ventures that create meaningful employment, promote economic inclusion, and deliver community-led solutions to social challenges. Whether you're developing skills, creating jobs, or strengthening local infrastructure, we’re here to help you grow your impact.

We’re particularly interested in models that empower individuals, tackle inequality, and support underrepresented groups.

This could include:

  • Employment support and skills development

  • Local service delivery and inclusive economic development

  • Programmes tackling isolation, inequality or marginalisation

  • Enterprise solutions supporting underrepresented groups
